$2,585 raised by 34 donors

UPDATE: $15 for $30 and The Prothonotary Challenge...

Waiting for the best time to donate to CKAS during the Good Giving Challenge? On December 30th (TODAY!) starting at 9:00 a.m., every $30+ donation will be matched $15.

Additionally, Wild Birds Unlimited has agreed to modify the Prothonotary Challenge and match up to $500 between today and tomorrow! This means your $30 donation on December 30th between 9:00am and 5:00pm will do $75 worth of good.

Tell all your peeps: Today's the day to support CKAS! We need every $30 donation we can get!

So far, we have met the Prothonotary Challenge twice (on December 23rd & 29th -- thanks to all who donated!). AND we've raised the last $500 by year's end, so the Wild Birds Unlimited contribution to our cause will be matched for the full $1,000.

"If you take care of the birds, you will take care of most of the problems of the world."    - Thomas Lovejoy, Professor of Environmental Science and Policy, George Mason University

As a chapter of the National Audubon Society, we are committed to improving and protecting habitat for birds and other wildlife and to involving Kentuckians of all ages in discovering the beauty of the natural world.

We work on a local level to bring attention to broader bird-related issues. Over the last several years, we have started projects to build Barn Owl nest boxes and place them at local wineries, helped orchestrate the Bluegrass Birding Festival, were instrumental in getting the Hitnes Master Mural Class arranged for the University of Kentucky and getting permission for the class to paint on the outside of the UK Ecological Research and Education Center, and initiated discussions with the Fayette Urban County Government with the hopes of converting several acres of local parks from fescue back to native grasses and much better bird habitat.

We recently volunteered to build up to 100 Prothonotary Warbler nest box tubes for the Kentucky Department of Fish and Wildlife Resources and to help establish the first Motus Station in Kentucky to help track birds migrating though our area.

We want to be the number one education and conservation resource for birds and birding in central Kentucky. We can't do all this without your generous help!
